Who we are

WinkSnap (the "app") is operated by an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy questions, email hello@winksnap.app.

What we collect for the waitlist

If you join the WinkSnap waitlist on this website, we collect:

• Your email address
• The date and time you joined

That's it. We don't ask for your name, location, or any other personal details to join the waitlist.

What we'll collect inside the app (when it launches)

When WinkSnap launches as an app, we'll collect what's necessary to run a private photo-sharing service between you and one other person:

• Your phone number (for sign-in via SMS verification)
• The display name and profile photo you choose
• The photos you send to your one paired person
• The reactions you and your person exchange
• Basic usage information (when you last sent a photo, for the daily ritual mechanic)

We do not collect your contacts list, your location, or your camera roll. Photos are sent only to the one person you've paired with — there is no public feed, no group sharing, no third-party access.

Why we collect it

• Email (waitlist): to send you a one-off launch notification when the app opens
• Phone number (app): to verify you're a real person and to find your paired person if they're already on WinkSnap
• Photos and reactions (app): to deliver them to the person you sent them to — that's the entire product

Who we share it with

Nobody, except the technical providers required to run the service:

• Email delivery: handled by our email service provider when we send you launch news
• App backend: Google Firebase, for authentication, photo storage, and notifications
• Hosting: this website is hosted on Netlify

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train AI models.

How long we keep it

• Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe or until we deliver the launch email and 90 days afterward, whichever is later
• App data: until you delete your account or, for unused accounts, after 12 months of inactivity

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request a copy of that data
• Correct anything inaccurate
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@winksnap.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. If we add basic analytics (to count visitors), it will be a privacy-friendly service like Plausible that doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify individuals.

Children

WinkSnap is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email hello@winksnap.app and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, email everyone on the waitlist or in the app.
